Your day starts with a scenic flight along the beautiful Knik River Valley, past towering Pioneer Peak with views of Mount Susitna and Denali to the community of Big Lake, where you will be welcomed at The Dogstead, home of respected Iditarod musher Nic Petit and his kennel of lovable pups.

You’ll spend over an hour meeting these furry Alaska athletes, visiting with the pups, learning about Alaska’s state sport of mushing, and hitch up the team. Once the dogs are ready to go, enjoy an exhilarating ride!

In the winter months enjoy a ride atop snow-packed trails on a traditional dog sled. During spring, summer and fall months experience a custom cart ride through The Dogstead trail system.

Experience the rush of racing dogs, and see why Nic and his pups consistently finish in the top 10 of nearly every race they run!

Add on’s can include a glacier landing on your way back from The Dogstead or stay overnight in one of the glamping yurts on site.
