Nine-time Grammy Award winner, Emmy Award winner, musician, producer, activist and humanitarian Ziggy Marley has built a legendary career spanning nearly four decades. The eldest son of Bob and Rita Marley, Ziggy carries forward a musical legacy rooted in reggae history while continuing to forge his own creative path.

Blending reggae, soul, rock and global rhythms, Marley’s music is guided by messages of love, justice, resilience and unity. From his early days performing with his family to his celebrated solo career, he has used music as a tool for reflection, upliftment and connection.

Born David Robert Nesta Marley in Trench Town, Jamaica, Marley joined his first Wailers recording sessions at just seven years old. In 1979, he formed Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers with siblings Stephen, Sharon and Cedella. The group earned their first Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album with 1988’s Conscious Party and went on to win two more Grammys during their nine-album, 13-year run.

Marley launched his solo career with Dragonfly in 2003 and has since earned six additional Grammy Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, a UCLA George and Ira Gershwin Award for Lifetime Musical Achievement, and induction into the International Reggae and World Music Awards Hall of Fame. His ninth solo studio album, Brightside, was released in April 2026.

In addition to his own acclaimed catalog, Marley has collaborated with artists including Carlos Santana, Sting, Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, Sheryl Crow, Jack Johnson, Angélique Kidjo, Ben Harper, Kenny Chesney and many others. He also produced the 2024 film Bob Marley: One Love.

Beyond the stage and studio, Marley is deeply committed to humanitarian work through his charity, U.R.G.E. — Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment — which supports education, health care and community-based organizations in Jamaica, the United States and around the world.
